History: | The Annunciazione Tra I Santi Ansano E Margherita Tapestry is a textile representation of the famous 1300’s painting by Italian artists Simone Martini and Lippo Memmi. Now housed in Uffizi Gallery in Florence, the original depicts the Annunciation of Mary. Our tapestry is a replica of the center panel of the Martini’s three original panels. It shows archangel Gabriel kneeling in front of the Virgin Mary expressing to her that she will bear the child Jesus. The angel holds an olive branch symbolizing peace while his other hand points at the dove of the Holy Ghost. Mary is portrayed as startled at the message while appearing reluctant. The background is decorous and detailed with intricate arches. This Gothic style wall tapestry will bring a celestial presence and historical touch to your interior. Woven in Italy, the tapestry is made from cotton/viscose blend with gold thread embellishments. Lined back and tunneled top for ease of installation. |
