History: | Castle of Parma is an Italian jacquard woven wall tapestry. The artwork comes from a painting by Giuseppe Alinovi (1811-1848) portraying the Torrechiara castle. Now almost 600 years old, this magnificent castle is about 10 miles from Parma, Italy. Dominating the Val Parma, it was constructed by Pier Maria Rossi between 1448 and 1460, and right from the beginning devised as an instrument of defense, as well as a distinguished home for the count and his lover Bianca Pellegrini da Arluno. |
